June 2014 was a cool to mild dry month.
The rainfall total of 20.2 millimetres was less than half the average with most of it (13.4 mm) falling in one day on the 3rd.
Day temperatures were mostly close to normal with the warmest days in the second half of the month. Overnight temperatures were also close to normal. There was one notable temperature extreme on the 4th - see below.
It was a cloudy month with only ten sunny days, there were no thunderstorms, and prevailing winds were light westerlies.

Noteworthy events:
3rd-4th
- Temperatures plunged to mid-winter levels on the 3rd as a severe cold front passed through northern New South Wales bringing showers, strong winds, low temperatures and some light snowfalls to higher parts of the Northern Tablelands. The Guyra/Black Mountain/Ben Lomond areas all received a few light snow and sleet showers. Walcha had at least one snow shower and a few flakes of snow fell in South Armidale at 10pm. The 3rd was a bitterly cold day with a maximum temperature of 8.6 deg, but the wind chill temperature was around zero to minus five degrees for much of the day. The showers which fell during the day and evening totaled 13.4 mm for the 24 hours to 9am on the 4th.
The 4th was Armidale’s coldest May day for 14 years with the temperature reaching a maximum of just 6.9 deg in bleak drizzly conditions.
