WEATHER REVIEW - ARMIDALE NSW
JANUARY
2016
January 2016 was a cloudy, wet and warm month.
The rainfall total of 124.6 mm was 23 mm higher than the average with falls
well distributed throughout the month. The highest daily fall was 26.6 mm on the
6th with minor flooding occurring on the previous day.
Although temperatures were slightly lower than the long term average, 30
degrees was reached or exceeded on seven days. There was one notable cool
temperature extreme on the 3rd - see below.
There were thunderstorms on seven days with some producing good falls of rain.
No hail was observed with any of the storms.
Prevailing winds were light easterlies.
Noteworthy
events:
3rd - During an overcast day of light rain and chilly easterly winds, the temperature
reached a maximum of just 16.2C. This was the lowest January maximum for 30
years since 24th January 1986 when 14.3C was recorded.
