FEBRUARY 2016
February 2016 was a warm, sunny and very dry month.
The rainfall total of 21.2 millimetres was the lowest for the month of February
since 1989 when 13.8 mm was recorded. Most of the rain fell in a four day
period from the 3rd to the 6th (17.6 mm) with only one other light fall later
in the month on the 20th (3.6 mm).
It was a very sunny month resulting in much higher than normal day temperatures
with temperatures exceeding 30.0 degrees on seven days.
Overnight temperatures were close to normal.
There
was only one thunderstorm, and no hail.
Prevailing winds were light to moderate easterlies.

26th - The maximum temperature of 34.6 degrees was the highest February
maximum since 9th February 2009 when 35.0 degrees was recorded. It was also the
hottest day for any month since 23rd November 2014.
