FEBRUARY 2013

February 2013 was a warm cloudy month with good falls of rain.
The rainfall total of 89.6 millimetres was very close to the long term average. Most of the rain fell in the second half of the month with the highest daily fall being 42.8 mm on the 23rd.
Maximum temperatures were much lower than normal as a result of numerous cloudy days. Overnight temperatures were close to normal, and there were no notable extremes.
There were thunderstorms on five days, no hail, and winds throughout the month were light to moderate easterlies.

Noteworthy events:
21st-23rd - A low pressure system which had developed off the southern Queensland coast a few days earlier, moved inland over the Northern Tablelands on the 22nd and 23rd bringing good soaking falls of rain to the Armidale area and heavy flooding rains to the North Coast. Armidale recorded 46.0 mm of rain from this system over the three day period from the 21st to the 23rd.
