DECEMBER 2013
December 2013 was a warm and very dry month.
The rainfall total of 22.0 millimetres was the lowest for the month of December
since 1941 (10.0 mm).
Numerous
sunny days resulted in day temperatures being well above normal, but overnight
temperatures were a little cooler than normal. There was one notable cold
temperature extreme - see below.
Thunderstorm activity was unusually low with storms on just one day, the 16th
when a number of storms passed over Armidale between noon and 6pm. No hail was
observed during these storms.
Winds were mostly light to moderate westerlies.

7th - After a cool clear night, the
temperature dropped to a minimum of 0.4C at 6.15am with a light frost. This was
the lowest December temperature since 7th December 2002 (-0.5C).
