APRIL 2012
April 2012 was a mild partly cloudy month with light winds and light rain.
The month started with warm and dry conditions with temperatures reaching the
low to mid-twenties up until the 10th. Slightly cooler and cloudy conditions
prevailed for the rest of the month with a number of light rainfalls.
Rain for the month was divided into main two events, both caused by trough
systems. The first from the 15th to the 19th delivered 19.6 mm of rain, and the
second event on the 23rd and 24th produced a further 19.6 mm. Two more light
falls on the 28th and 29th resulted in a total of 48.8 mm for the month,
slightly exceeding the long term average.
Temperatures overall were very close to normal with no notable extremes. 20.0
degrees was exceeded on 15 days.
Winds were predominantly light easterlies, there were no thunderstorms, and the
first frosts of the year occurred on the 10th and 11th which produced a
frost-free period of 170 days since the last frost in 2011 on 22nd October.
There were no noteworthy events.
